Meet the Lone Star Donuts Poulsbo Family!

Hi! We’re the Juan Gomez family. With roots in Vera Cruz and Houston, TX, we made the big move to Kitsap County in 2022 to do what we do best: serve handmade, high-quality, Texas style donuts to you and your family each day.

My mom and dad get up at 2:00 every morning to start preparing the dough: mixing the ingredients, working the dough, and cutting/shaping/braiding each donut to be fried, cooled, and decorated with love. Together my parents have over 40 years of experience making donuts by hand. Some of my earliest memories were behind the counter, sneaking tastes of the icing when my mom wasn’t looking. 

Since opening this location in July 2023, we’ve been blessed to receive a lot of love and support from the community here. Our favorite moments have been getting to hear stories from our regulars, and seeing little kids’ faces light up when they’re handed a fresh donut with sprinkles and icing.

We’re very thankful for every person who takes the time to visit our shop. We love providing breakfast and coffee for the early morning workers. We love seeing parents treat their kids to a cake donut or kolache on their way to school. We love getting to help first-timers decide which flavors they’d like to try, and providing a space for people to sit down and relax a little bit while running errands.

I’m personally thankful to be a part of the memories people make here. It reminds me of all the memories I made growing up in those donut shops in Texas.
